First-Born.
The second piece of the Myers family series. This one was for Eric; the first born son. In my process, I always pray. As I was praying I heard “The Music Plays On”. I knew that this piece was supposed to symbolize how the “sound” of Eric’s Father - and who He was as a Father -now lives on through Eric as he fathers his own children.
Both Eric and his Father also happen to be musicians.
The salvaged pieces near the top represent Eric, His Father and His three brothers. The background is made of a sheet music scroll we found inside the player piano. The music notes are an assortment of parts from the hammer assembly. The bottom of the piece is made up of the original logo and lid of the piano.
